Printed W-2s and 1099s Explained
As part of year-end tax form processing, employees can choose whether to receive their W-2s or 1099s electronically or by mail. Employees who remain opted in for printed tax forms will have their forms printed and mailed, and the associated printing and mailing fees will be billed to the client. To avoid these charges, employees must opt out of printed forms and elect electronic delivery before year-end processing begins.
Opting In to Paperless Delivery
Each employee or 1099 recipient must log in to their individual Paycor account and opt in to paperless delivery. Employers cannot make this selection on their behalf.
The deadline to opt in is December 1st at 11:59 p.m. ET. For step-by-step instructions on selecting paperless delivery, visit view the attachment below.
Why Forms Get Printed
Anyone who hasn't opted in to paperless delivery by the deadline will receive a printed W-2 or 1099 by mail. Corrected forms (W-2Cs) are printed and mailed the same way.
Printing and Delivery Fees
A fee applies to each printed W-2, W-2C, and 1099, plus a delivery fee. For current amounts, see our Miscellaneous Fees (https://tesseon.com/miscellaneous-fees/).
The easiest way to avoid these fees: encourage your employees and 1099 recipients to log in to Paycor and opt in to paperless as soon as possible.
Mailing and Delivery
Printed W-2s and 1099s are mailed directly to each employee and recipient. If forms need to be resubmitted, expect a delivery delay.
